February Book Giveaway

The first book I'm giving away is a contemporary MG novel, The Penderwicks on Gardam Street by Jeanne Birdsall. If you want to read my review, you can find it here: http://marciahoehne.blogspot.com/2008/07/book-of-semi-month-club.html
This is a fun story about four sisters, their absentminded professor father, and what happens when their aunt decides her widowed brother should marry again. AND, the winner of this drawing gets a second, "mystery" book as an added bonus!

To be entered in the drawing:
  • Comment on this post anytime on February 4, 5, or 6.
  • For an additional entry, become a follower of this blog and post a second comment telling me so. If you're already a follower, post a second comment telling me that.
  • For an additional entry, post a link to this contest and then post a comment giving the URL. For the sake of my own organization, if you post a contest link in more than one location, please give each URL in a separate comment. In this category, you can enter as many times as you have cyber-places to post the contest.
I'll tally the number of entries per person, put 'em all in the hat, draw one, and announce the winner bright and early on Monday, February 8.

So, come one, come all--and meanwhile have a great day in the world of books.

I love the Penderwicks as does my daughter. These books have the old-fashioned storytelling feel. Perhaps because it's omniscient? I think it's the hardest to write ... because you have to have a great storyteller voice.

Oh, and I'm a follower, so please throw my name into the hat again.
Thanks.

I'd love to win this, as I am not familiar with this author and it sounds like my kids would love it!

Vijaya -- I was SO happy when the first book won the National Book Award. Yes, I definitely think that "old-fashioned" feel is due to the omniscient POV. I love the smooth movement from one POV to another among FOUR girls, and I also like the "dear reader" comments, although of course that phrase isn't used. It just works beautifully in these books. Thanks for entering x2!

Corinne -- Thanks for visiting, commenting, and entering x3! When I found the first book, I immediately searched for more by Jeanne Birdsall, but I believe it was her first book. I sure hope there will be more!

I'd just love to win a book in 2010, especially so early in the year. It might set the tone for the other ten months. Besides I think this giveaway is exactly what I'd enjoy receiving.

Your contest has also prompted me to tidy up the blogs I follow, and you're now among them. Since housekeeping isn't my strong suit, I appreciated the nudge. :)

Almost forgot. Here's a link to my fb post. Hope it drives some contestants your way.

Sounds like a great book! I've never read the Penderwicks.

Sliding on the Edge -- Yes, wouldn't a win start the year off right? I've been blog-organizing too!You are entered x3:)

Boni -- I'm sure I'll collect all the Penderwicks books; I trust there'll be another couple at least. I hope so!

Christina -- The first Penderwicks book is about the girls and their dad on summer vacation. Since the subtitle is "A summer tale,"I was kind of expecting a book for each season. But book #2 doesn't really "stick to the script" that way, so maybe there'll be more!

Thank you all for entering!
