My Upcoming SCBWI Workshop!

SCBWI-WI Northeast presents: Giggle and Generate, two workshops for children's authors! Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Muehl Public Library, Seymour, WI. http://www.muehlpubliclibrary.org/

Author Linda Skeers is the "giggle" portion, and from 10am-12:30pm she will speak about what makes humor work in books for all ages -- and how to tickle the funny bones of readers and editors. I am the "generate" portion, and from 1:30-4pm I will present my Idea Explosion Workshop and talk about how to get and develop ideas for the books you are meant to write.

Registration closes April 30, and the form is here: http://www.scbwi.org/Resources/Documents/NE%20Area%20May%204%202013%20registration%20flier.pdf

Linda and I will be critiquing mss. as well. We're looking forward to a great day with you. :)

Sounds like a great workshop!

Best wishes. I know you'll do a great job. Following the giggling should be a challenge for someone less articulate and organized than you, but I know from your posts that you will come in and take it away.

Barbara -- Thanks! :)

Mirka -- I'd MUCH rather write than speak, but the workshop went over very well in the fall, so it's been a confidence boost. Thanks for the support!

What a great combo for a workshop! And what lucky participants to have you and Linda. Enjoy, giggle and do not explode!

Dawn -- Idea Explosion is mine, but Giggle and Generate comes from our area rep, Miranda Paul. I think it'll be a good time. :)

Vijaya -- Thank you. :) Maybe what we'll do is explode with giggles and ideas!

Sound like great workshops! Humour is so hard to get right!

Sounds like a great conference. Generating ideas and putting humor into your manuscripts are two great topics to speak about.

I'm late to comment, so I hope you had a great workshop. I'm sure it went great!

Janet J -- Me too. I could use more of it in my writing.

Jemi -- Yes, I'm really looking forward to what Linda has to say about humor.

Janet -- Hopefully, at the end of the day people have new funny ideas. :)

Bish -- I'd love to meet you. Someday...

Kelly -- Oh, no, you're not late. The workshop's not till May 4. I was on blog break in March, though. Thanks for the good wishes!

Writing humor is such a challenge. I wish I could hear that presentation.

Good luck. It's sounds like a great workshop, Marcia.

Marcia said...

Lee -- I agree! I find that if I write anything funny, it's generally off the cuff, not planned.

Stina -- Thanks!
